Privacy Policy
This page explains what data Play Go Online collects and what it does with it, in plain terms.
No accounts, no personal data collected by us
There's no sign-up on this site and no user accounts. We don't ask for your name, email address, or any other personal information, and we don't have a database of users because there's nothing to store one for.
What's saved in your browser
Your current game, your recent results, and your settings (board size, difficulty, theme) are saved using your browser's localStorage. This data stays on your device: it's never sent to us or to anyone else. Clearing your browser's site data, or using a different browser or device, will reset it.
Playing online (friend links and quick match)
Playing a friend or using quick match sends moves through our server so both players see the same board — that part can't happen entirely on your device the way single-player does. There's still no account and no sign-in: your browser generates a random id (not tied to your name, email, or anything else about you) and stores it locally, purely so the server can tell "the same browser reconnecting" apart from a new player if your connection drops.
An online game's data — the board position, moves, and that random id — is transient. It's deleted from our server automatically 24 hours after the game ends, or 48 hours after the last activity if it's abandoned without finishing. We don't keep a history of games played.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how people use the site in aggregate: which pages get visited, roughly how long games last, that kind of thing. GA4 uses cookies and collects information such as your approximate location (derived from your IP address, which Google anonymizes), browser and device type, and the pages you visit. We don't use this data to identify you individually, and we don't sell or share it beyond what Google's own privacy policy covers. You can read more about how Google handles this data atGoogle's Privacy Policy.
Most browsers let you block analytics cookies or use an ad-blocking extension if you'd rather not be counted. The site works exactly the same either way, since analytics has no effect on gameplay.
Hosting
This site is hosted on Cloudflare's network. Cloudflare processes standard web request data (like IP addresses) as part of serving the site and protecting it from abuse, under its ownprivacy policy.
Children's privacy
This site doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, since there's no account system and no form on the site that asks for it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, for example if we add a feature that collects new kinds of data, we'll update this page and the date below.
